Re: [pyrnet] Knee Brace for Dogs

I'll retain the number. I am glad you did something in addition to the vet.

We have a pretty experienced large animal doctor here in town I would consider but other than that I don't have any kind of referral from other large animal dog owners.

Now that I think about it, it makes sense a dog would have to be measured for the proper size and fit.

Take care

Christine

Subject: [pyrnet] Knee Brace for Dogs

Hi,

I received a private email regarding Cody's knee brace and thought I'd share it with everyone.  If something can help other dogs out of Cody's misfortune, then please share.

Hi,

I live in Ontario and there is an animal rehab specialist that my vet had recommended.  Her services have become very popular and she now has clients outside of the province and country.  She emails you the forms and instructions of how to measure up your Pyr for the brace.  If you aren't comfortable doing the measurements, then your vet could do them too.  Given that Cody isn't a great traveller, we didn't want to take him for the 2 hour drive, so we did the measurements.  Then, she asks that you have the completed forms along with one the vet fills out be faxed to her.  It isn't a true referral, but I think it must be a liability issue so that she is sure that the injury is what the owner says it is - really it makes sense.  I had the brace within about 10 days of ordering it.  The cost was not outrageous considering the speciality market.  I think it has been worth it.  Of note, you get a brace for both back legs to stabilize the other knee which is also likely to go now that the pup has already hurt one.
