The possibility also exists of a group being made up partially or entirely 
of civilians, a group of locals, fending off some nasty critter that is 
eating whatever is left of their livestock and swiping children to fill in 
it's menu. Civvies would probably be more tolerant of women immediately and 
when the OSI hears about a group of non-mils that are able to take on 
creatures by themselves they would probably show an interest.

Actually I have nothing to add to this part, just more of a Here Here! sort 
of thing. When I was doing my journalism stint I had the opportunity to 
interview an ex-nazi skinhead and he is still one of the most interesting 
and slightly scary people I've ever talked with.
