Re: [WW] some Normandy options

I can't imagine how you *can't* do Normandy. :)

First off, I'd definitely suggest reading Stephen Ambrose's _D-Day_.
That'll give you some ideas.

For example:
* Many of the defenders were from Ost units, units that were made up of
Eastern Europeans, Russians, etc. Maybe they can't take out that
pillbox because whatever's manning it can soak up bullet rounds like
nobody's business - but after the flamethrowers are through with them
there's no evidence, particularly since OSI carted away what was left.
* While jumping off their LCTs, something on the bottom of the channel
is using the dropped equipment to arm itself, and is also trying to hold
back some of the soldiers.
* The defenders are willing to surrender, or die at their posts, but
they won't retreat, because something worse than the
Americans/British/Canadians is behind them.
* A group of airdropped 82nd or 101st find a normal looking French
family that claims to be part of the French Resistance, but actually
fights only for themselves - and they have a taste for human flesh.
* A knocked out Sherman tank on the beach "revives" and helps the
assault, then drives off up the beach, through the landmines, and into
the hedgerows. Driven by revenge, it seeks the Germans, but if the
Americans try to stop it it'll go after them, too.
* Ever play Ogre? Rommel has been given a present by Hitler - in
exchange for giving up control of some of the panzer units, he got an
"uber-panzer" - larger than anything else, seemingly indestructible, and
unmanned - well, except for the human brains wired into it. The French
Resistance has seen it, and it's headed for the beaches.
* General Teddy Roosevelt was on the beach, landing with one of the
first waves. He had a heart attack during the invasion, but kept
going. Perhaps he actually died, and is now a lich, trying to defeat
the Germans by whatever means necessary. Teaming up with Patton, who
loves the idea of soldiers invincible and immune to morale, they want to
destroy the Nazis, then the Russians, and the OSI finds out that not all
evil is on the opposite side.
