On a possibly related note. . . this last line just reminded me of
something anyway.
The best thing about Saving Private Ryan, IMO, was the . . . not ambiguous
nature of war. . . but the "flip side of the same coin" aspect in war. In
the opening scenes you got to see the assaulting Allies vs. the defending
Germans.
And in the closing scene, the situation was reversed and it was the
Americans who were machine gunning down the exposed Germans.
