RE: [WW] Primer Movies for Weird Wars II

Very good point Sir! I completely agree. We (Shane, Chirs Libey, Jay Kyle, and myself) had a conversation at lunch today that pertains to your this. Basically, I declared that Hollywood (some of their movies are exceptions) did not really portray War as the true horror for what it is. For instance, I knowing what I did about D-Day, War in general, and just plain common sense, never pictured what was portrayed in the movie, 'Saving Private Ryan'. I read about it in school and if you had asked me about what would happen to troops of that era making an amphibious assault like what occurred on Normandy, I would have told you it would have been a blood bath. But in my head, and I seriously believe it is because of the way movies were portrayed when I was younger, the Americans just landed on the beaches of Normandy, took some casualties, and basically kicked some Nazi ass! But after 'Ryan'..., lets just say it clicked and made sense. BTW, Shane disagrees with me that Hollywood did not portray War as it should have been, i.e. 'Ryan' and many of the '90s Vietnam movies (i.e. 'Full Metal Jacket')

If possible watch the movies in as close to chronological order as possible
and see the evolution of how Hollywood portrayed WW2.
Makes for some interesting viewing that way.
