Okay, nitpicky moment, then a less-nitpicky bit...
'concentration camp' means a central location were a population is moved, so
it can be controlled. Like some of the camps of 'undesireables' in Germany
and Poland. Like the places for the Japanese-Americans in the USA. Like the
'strategic hamlets' in Vietnam. Which is very different from...
'death camp'. A place where people are systematically killed, either through
work, or other methods.
I know, I know, it's terribly pedantic, but - it's inaccurate. And it
doesn't in the slightest excuse the death camps, but I do wish they'd be
called what they were.
As for staying or leaving, well, golems are 'historically' hard to make, and
a sorceror can still be gunned down by a camp guard, who suspects something.
And lots of people in the death camps, and even more in the concentration
camps, -didn't- know what was going on, at first. It became clear soon
enough, though.
Now, on to monsters...
Well, there's a -lot- of possibilities out there to play with. Weird
West-style, All Flesh-style, even D&D-style. Maybe WW should include
'settings', for how 'weird' you want it to be. Advice on how it changes
gameplay and the development of the world. Like, oh...Fear Levels. :)
One of my personal faves is the 'gate to somewhere else'. In a tiny section
of the front, either near the Huertgen forest or the Pripet Marshes, one
side or the other finds that after going a certain distance,
they're...somewhere else. Looks -sort- of similar, but Sarge, I don't
remember those mountains being so close...and who's this guy with the pointy
ears? Damn, sorta sounds like French, but...
This can turn into several things. The PCs help against the Fantasy Bad
Guys...the Axis and Allies fight in Fantasy Land...the Axis & Allies team up
to fight Fantasy Bad Guys...
Still. I want to see columns of panzers rolling across, say, Faerun, or the
Flaness..
