Think of it this way - disinformation. The Korp may in
fact actually be the size of a company but by
misleading the Allies into thinking it's far larger
they could strike a telling blow to morale. Would you
rather think there were only a 100 of these creatures
or a 1000?

Patton was in command of an entire false army for a
while in 1944. The idea being to mislead the Germans
into thinking preparations were on-going for invasion
in a place far different to where the action was
really going on.

It's also a common practice to use false unit
designations and communications traffic when in the
field to mislead the enemy as to where any unit may
actually be at any given time.

The armband may be designed to be left on the
battlefield as "evidence," or may be designed to be
seen by a battlefield survivor. "Tell them what you
saw today, tell them who we are!" Sort of thing.

Cheers,
Mr. B
