[WW] Ability Scores Part Deux

So something I've been thinking about in regards to
ability score generation in d20 as it pertains to WW:
wouldn't military testing and screening keep anyone
with above average stats off the Normandy beaches and
in more important positions?

I'm not very familiar with what happens when you join
the military, but from what I've read and seen it
seems to me that they do fairy rigorous testing, and
infantry was about as low as you could test. 

Is that incorrect?

On a related note, if you the CO want your PCs to be
super soldiers, and to storm the beaches, it is of
course your decision. Personally the idea snaps my
disbelief suspenders.
