[WW] Women in Uniform

Just to pick up a topic from way back:

On the Axis side you should not have any problems to play women in
uniform.

By 1944 women not only played an important part in the war industry,
but were actually in uniform as secretaries, radar operators, in field
hospitals, as communications specialists and so on.

Late in the war the were supposed to take a more active part in the
war: They were trained in anti-air-cannon operations and even in the
Panzerfaust. In February 1945 Hitler okayed the formation of a woman's
batallion, in March he said "Ob Mädchen oder Frauen, ist ganz Wurscht:
eingesetzt muß alles werden." Whether girls or Women, it's all the
same: everything has to be utilized. Before these plans really could
be put into effect, though, the war ended.

Given the chaos in those late war years, troops on the axis side could
well include women soldiers from overrun positions. At first they
probably just wouldn't be that good at weapons (except maybe, if she
was regularly accompanying her Daddy on the hunt?).

I assume on the Allied side you'd have similar patterns, as well as
special operatives (Ms. Braun is the only specialist on transsylvanian
Artifacts. Her skin burns easily under the sun, but otherwise she is a
trusted operative. Hehe).

Mit freundlichen Gruessen,

Arne Reuter
