If WW had been released six months later I think it could have made use of
some of the d20 "inovations" now out there. The Judge Dredd RPG makes good
use of Refklex saves to add to AC, with armour reducing damage rather than
making you harder to hit (as it does in the real world).
WW is, however, the background I have been searching for for years. I've
tried WWII settings with Mage and Vampire and neither really worked. Yes,
I'd have prefered WW to use the Deadlands system, but you can't have
everything.
Should you happen to be in the South West (of England- just to note to our
overseas colleagues) in early November I'm running an 18-hour+ game at
Excaliber. The mini-campaign will be set in Stalingrad and teh characetrs
are all Soviets.
