[WW] Re: Maps
The National Geographic magazine did a CD collection
of war maps a while back, it might be rather useful.
Modern maps might also be used. Most if not all
European railway lines would have been laid out pre
1939, in fact probably pre 1900. In Britain anyway
there were far more then than now due to
'rationalisation' under Beeching.
There might be a few new towns (Milton Keynes in
England comes to mind) but I doubt if the changes
would be that dramatic and a big city today was in all
probability a big city in 1939.
Failing that look for old Atlases. The Pears
encyclopaedias were yearly (or close to it) and
contain maps and a lot of other very useful period
information. I know the last bit seems obvious but I
know myself sometimes we are so set on a 'clever'
solution we need the obvious pointed out to us.
