Senior Software Engineer. Did requirements analysis and software development in a number of languages (mostly, C and Perl) to enhance existing applications or implement new ones. Also use some proprietary languages (Sendmail "m4" and "cf", as well as XXL [an XML based programming language]) to implement new customer requirements. Helped define base rulesets for client use as starting points when adopting Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam rules as well as authentication mechanisms such as SPF and DKIM.

In addition, as part of the Sentrion Appliance development, I assisted with integration Splunk log management tools for the Reporting and Monitoring sections of the UI. This included both log parsing and report generation.

The farm of machines on which this was accomplished consisted of about a dozen Linux based Pentium PCs using the Apache httpd (1.2.x). Am familiar with the internals of both the Linux kernel and the Apache core software. Implemented SSL on a small handful of web platforms. Did extensive CGI development using a combination of C and Perl scripts as necessary. Performed ad hoc maintenance (both hardware and software) of the various web machines as needed.

For Defense Intelligence Threat Data System (DITDS), designed and implemented a Motif application to aid intelligence analysts in the documentation of step used in risk analysis. Also, headed a team of programmers in the implementation of an Motif communications application, originally developed while on the EISS project in Stuttgart, Germany. This application allows for multi-way realtime conversations and conferences.

As a subcontractor to SAIC, assisted with the creation of the Theater Battle Management Core System demonstration system. Specifically, was responsible for leading a team to create various Motif user interfaces and cross platform utilities.

For PRC Headquarters, McLean, VA, taught C and UNIX courses to fellow developers.

For Headquarters, United States European Command, Stuttgart, Germany, installed and evaluated candidate workstations (UNIX derivatives) for U.S. European Intelligence Support System (EISS). Installed and evaluated commercial off-the-shelf software for EISS candidate workstations. Adapted X Window System to a variety of UNIX derivative workstation platforms to support a demonstration of candidate application programs on a prototype system. Developed the man-machine interface for the prototype system. Developed X applications that were portable between workstation platforms: Sun 3/260, Sun SPARCstation, Mac II, DECstation 3100 and IBM PS/2. Enabled the VM operating system on the IBM 9377 to accommodate the LAN. Developed a prototype multiuser conferencing system on DECstation 3100 under XUI and ULTRIX. Developed a prototype mapping system using X and World Database II. Participate in all levels of design, implementation and testing of software on EISS workstations and the EISS host mainframe. Developed a set of dBase III+ and C programs to implement a Requirements Traceability Matrix. Was the primary system administrator for a UNIX local area network consisting of 8 file servers, 100+ workstations, and 300+ users.

For the configuration management (CM) staff of the Support for the Analyst's File Environment (SAFE) project, designed, tested, enhanced and provided support to users for the automated CM system using REXX. Responsible for automated tools and programs which made the system unique. One such program was for checking-out/checking- in software modules maintained on a CM-controlled software disk. This program prevented more than one software developer from changing a software module at the same time. Created printer program for Xerox 2700 to display "Zoned" messages.
