[BNW] Cyborgs and other new packages
I'll admit it, when I first picked up BNW I was disappointed at the
"limiting" amount of packages available. I was in a DC (MEGs) state of mind.
When I was thinking of a new game to run for my Monday night group, I was
thinking of Feng Shui, and my attention turned towards BNW. In a Feng Shui
state of mind, I really liked the Packages presented and the ease with which
they could be used, as opposed to the constant tinkering and tweaking that I
always found necessary with other games. I think with the quirks and tricks,
many different types of characters can be made.
I guess I'm a purist, and at heart I know that any packages I made would
probably be too powerful. I think the ones presented are pretty much equal
in strength, and with a little creativity, can be made to fit many
individual concepts.
Robocop for instance I see as a either a tough or a Goliath, perhaps with
some body armor.
If you break it down, what can he do? He's extremely tough, accurate with
the gun, slow and strong. Sure he looks cool, but nothing says every
character made with a particular package has to look the same.
I guess I'll just hold my breath waiting for further supplements, but until
they arrive, I'll be happy with the ones presented. I think Matt has done a
great job of making them all similarly powered.
