Re: [BNW] Go-go-gadget.....

Matt Trent:
Interesting argument, but not a flawless one... My first question was
why does everyone need their own A-suit? I'd think that the government
can be picky enough to require stringent standards on body size of the
soldiers wearing the suit. NASA did in the beginning of the space
program after all. Second remember that in character your players don't
have a clue that those aren't deltas inside the suit. Third (and I
assume that this is addressed in a book i don't have) but how do you
know how many A-Suits are in a DP squad and how many squads are in each
city?

OK, one: Each suit is unique, like all gadgets.(in the rules, and stated by
game designer) I have already ruled that means the suit has to be relatively
tailored to the individual. (oops, the elbow was out of alignment, sorry
about that crushed bone...) Which is, at least, an 8 hour 'adjustment'. And
the individual has to have some sort of practice at using that specific
suit. (let's see left finger twitch, fires the gun, oh, wait that cuts the
Jets..) So "interchangable" A-suits, just isn't an effective option.
Two: Doesn't matter who is in the suit. It's a gadget and takes a gadgeteer
to keep it running. Find the gadgeteer, cripple the response team.
Three: EXACTLY MY QUESTION: the book, and the pictures hint at at least 4 or
so A-suit per team. My take is that heavy weapons support is necessary to
track down flyers. They're the only thing maneuverable enough to keep track
of them. So three is a minimum to trap the faster flyer. You need at least
ONE heavy squad per city AND that still has a crappy response time. (think
fire stations). So we're talking lots of gadgeteers. (sorry bout the math
failure previously, it was late).

Aside: besides Null fields, (which ARE NOT common enough to "surround" the
gadgeteers workspace) How could you possibly catch a speedster? beep-beep
THTHPPT zzzziiippp and gone...
