I'd put him in situations where either he can't bring his gun along (metal 
detectors) or where noise might give things away.

True enough, although that raises the question of how obvious the 
Premonition aspect is. If the Timetripper says he's using Premonition, and 
the Copycat then sees him act on that premonition, could the Copycat copy 
that aspect of the power.

There was also that Trick I have at my website that lets the Timetripper 
"loop" other people with him. Of course, you don't have to allow that...  :)
