No, but it goes from the internet gateway to our exchange box via a unix
SMTP box, and I think this interprets a period on a blank line as a EOF
marker (vaguely remembering my old days of working with Linux in the dim
murky past).

I don't really think it majorly affects the list, I'm the only one who gets
inconvenienced by losing the digest following a . on a blank line, and
mostly people don't do it anyway.

As for my messages remaining flagged NEW even after people read them, I
can't imagine what's causing that - it's certainly not a feature of outlook,
exchange or whatever. I suspect there's some setting in the recipient's
mailboxes (It's not everyone, just a few of you?) which interacts with a
message from outlook/exchange/whatever badly. Not sure.
