[DL] Chats (NOT Dissapointed In All of You)

Hey,

I just noticed the header to this thread might come across wrong when I'm
asking about on-line chats. :-)
Whether or not a fan wants to attend is entirely a personal choice and
I'm not downing anyone who's not interested. That's somewhat akin to getting
upset because a fan _doesn't_ look at the website.
All I'm interested in finding out is whether or not a chat actually has
any value to our customers.

Now, here's the advantages to attending a chat as I see it:

    1) It's easier to corner me on a question.
    2) You can follow a train of thought through at once instead of over the
course of a day or longer.
    3) I'm more likely to slip in "secret info" both out of enthusiasm and
laziness in self-editting.

The drawbacks, again, as I see it:

    1) There's a set time which may not fit with your own schedule.
    2) Convenience. You can ask a question on the list-serve any time and
odds are I will get an answer back in a timely fashion.
    3) The chat may occur on a subscriber-only service (AOL, Pyramid, etc.).
Not all are this way, but some are.

Am I missing anything? How do those weigh out in your minds as the target
audience?

John
