[DL] About Combat in a Deadlands PBEM

I just started my six-gun Deadlands Pbem about a month back and have not yet
gotten to the first big combat(though one is going to come soon) Now I have
run PBEMs before for AD&D and combat there is much simpler. Basically the
problem is this: Fate Chips. Now I see two ways to run things;

1. I could run each round very slowly going card by card and giving each
player a chance to spend chips right then and there. (I don't much like this
solution as combat would take absolutely forever(I have six players now so
that would be 15+ card draws per round plus the baddies.))

or

2. I could get the player's planned actions, write up a full account of the
round, wounds, hits and spell effects and then rewrite the combat round
taking into account what chips the players want to spend.

Now with #2 I see a potential problem.

1. The players will be able to see what happens later in the round and may
try to spend chips to prevent it from happening(For example player A misses
the bandit(on a queen) who with an incredible roll(on a ten) blows one of
the players all the way to satan's bosom. Perhaps the player would try to
spend chips to hit the bandit(perhaps more than they would usually have)
trying to circumvent fate.

What do you think about this? Any suggestions?
