[DL] Munchkin player in need of veteran background

Howdy gang,

The other day I was talking to one of my players about his new, almost finished huckster character. "Can I take shotgun instead of pistol," he asks. "Sure, why not," I reply. "Cool," says the player "Then I'll get a double-barreled one and use it for slugs. They are -2 to hit, but that 6d6 x 2 for damage outweighs that." Turns out that the player, who is a well-known munchkin to all in the group, had take a glance at the first pages of Tales o' Terror, seen the new shotgun rules, and figured that this had to be the biggest can of whoopa$$ ever (well, he is kinda right, slugs RULE).

Well, I haven't decided on his veteran background yet, so I can still make him pay. One-armed bandit springs into mind, but his last character had that one. Gremlins is also okay, but I don't think the sting enough. Anyone has an idea for screwing up this hucksters shotgunning career? I do not want to change the shotgun rules, that is only going to upset the player (he still grumbles because I didn't give him bonuses to hit for BOTH strength and dexterity when shooting bows in AD&D).
