So it seems the Munchkins (no relation) are rearing
their ugly little heads on a few of the bullitin
boards lately. Their favorite character type to abuse
... Harroweds. Personally I don't understand it, just
toss down a few chips and even the 5d12+4 spirit types
should realize the errors of their ways. They don't
though, so here are some ideas for Harrowed I wanted
to dicuss with the list.

A) Supernatural Trait: Either it should be changed so
Spirit is the only trait that it cannot affect, or
that whenever it is pumped up, the manitous spirit
also gets pumped. After all, why would the manitou
grant a power that harms itself?

B) The road to abominations. It has been suggested
that Harrowed slowly become abominations (although
this is spliting hairs, not unlike what is clasified
as a fearmonger), and there is even an adventure on
PEGs site with a Harrowed who has upgraded to
abomination status. He even gets some nifty
non-harrowed type powers. Well at what point does
become an abomination? When he loses all his dominion
points? Or does it happen before then? The suggested
method is the former, but here's a little something to
help keep those munchkin players in check:

When the manitou's dominion plus the sum of the
Harrowed power levels plus the number of coup counted
is equal to the character's spirit die type he becomes
a sub-abomination. At this point the character gains
a Terror score of 5 (if he has none), or a +2 to his
present Terror score. Also at this point the Marshal
should be a bit more lax about what powers he allows
the character to pick up. The downside? When the
spirit test is made at the beginning of each session
the Marshal adds 2x the manitous current dominion to
his roll, instead of the normal bonus. Also when he
chips for control he gets to add the manitous current
dominion verse the Fair (5) plus the Harrowed
dominion.

When the manitou's dominion plus the sum of the
Harrowed power levels plus the number of coup counted
is equal to twice the character's spirit die type he
becomes an abomination. His Terror score is increased
by an additional +2. As a bonus allow the character
to develop harrowed powers to level 6, or develop new
abomination powers. The downside is for the spirit
test the manitou adds 3x his current dominion to his
roll, and the Harrowed gets NO bonus. Also when the
manitou chips for control no dice are rolled, he
automatically gets it.

When the manitou's dominion plus the sum of the
Harrowed power levels plus the number of coup counted
is equal to three times the character's spirit die
type ... you are doing something wrong. He should
have already lost full dominion at this point. If
not, he loses it immediately. That's what he gets for
abusing dark forces.

Something to try the next time a player says, "Being
Harrowed is fun."
