The rules for armor are mostly about penetration and stopping power. If a
pistol round had the power to put great gapeing holes in armor 2 it would be
at least d8's or .50 cal rounds.

All items have a durability rateing. So that armor 2 wall has a durability
of about 10-20. Your standard pistol round will do about 2d4 damage to the
wall and will not harm it overly. Several shots at it will reduce it's
durability until it either falls apart or is shot to peices. So by all
means apply the full damage to the object just keep in mind that it takes
damage too.
