This stretches my OT courage, but I saw a bit on the TV about
waiters/waitresses making copies of credit cards that customers give them
when paying for a meal.  You know, when they take your card to a cash
register or some such.  In their pocket they have a little gizmo that
records everything on the magnetic stripe, which is then imprinted onto
another card for later use.  And when you use your card at the local
Wal-Mart, they swipe the card right in front of you, then give it back.  But
the number is stored in the Wal-Mart computers so they can bill the sale to
your account.  And they keep track of it long enough in case you return
something you bought.

Sigh, I guess it's just the manitou in me wanting to spread a little extra
paranoia...
