Re: [DL] germany and the reckoning
I'm actually trying to work on a comprehensive European deadlands background
as we speak (write, whatever). If you want more details, mail me privately
(once it gets written all neat and tidy, then I'll probably post chunks of
it here to be ripped to shreds by the masses). Generally, I found a great
source to pillage is Castle Falkenstein (that and Sherlock Holmes novels),
which has some seriously good ideas in it (eg. Bismark's an automaton),
althoguh can be very difficult to find a copy of in Europe, for some strange
reason (GURPS Falkenstein's still out there, though).
Just for the record, I think the Austro-Prussian war ended abrputly in the
wake of the discovery of Ghost Rock in Ruhr in '68 (with an aging, half-mad
Metternich back in power in Austria again), which provided the pretext for
the Franco-Prussian war, which is still ongoing, though in much the same way
as the War of the States is, ie intermittent and skirmish-y. Also, I think
the old religious tensions are flaring up in Bismark's new German
uber-state, with rumours of seccession abounding in Bavaria and other
southern states (sound familiar?). There's too much potential for chaos,
confusion, death and blood for certain... forces to exploit.
But hey, that's just my two pfenigs worth.

though there is a short note at the end of the weird west description, i
rarely know anything about germany and the reckoning. does anyone know what
was going on in germany since the reckoning started? maybe there is
something in the HoE book?
