Well, there could be many ways to make it relic.  The only ones I can think
of right now would be taints.  As a librarian, I would suggest a book of
paper cuts, (leading to some nasty infection ;-) for those who steal it.
The book attracts bullets, (and remember something thin like Hoyles wouldn't
shot even an old west revolver bullet.)  It cause bad luck with the cards.
