RE: [DL] My thoughts on Attack on America

I want to thank the Deadlands listserv fans who responded to this
national tragedy.

It's truly a sad day for this country. Now we know how the rest of the
world feels; the sense of vulnerability and sorrow at being struck in
our own country. I work for a newspaper, so I saw the photos come in
over the AP wire. They were surreal and frightening; Hollywood couldn't
have envisioned the horros of the plume of ash and smoke billowing down
upon Lower Manhattan, one wing of the Pentagon in ruins and the Twin
Towers folding in on themselves in a shower of smoke and debris.

A weird side note: My wife and I visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis
Island in June. I looked at the photos of me standing in front of the
New York skyline. Those two wonderful towers in the picture are gone and
thousands are dead.
We also visited Washington, D.C. two weeks ago. It's hard to believe
that beautiful city of monuments and history felt fear, death and
paranoia on such a grand scale.

We do live in a new world now. It is up to us as Americans to not view
each other with apathy or indifference like in the past, but embrace
each other with compassion and patriotism. We need to work together to
get us through this dark time. It is what we've done in the past, and it
is what we should do now.

Pray. Donate blood. Don't loose faith or hope in America. We need to
show the world we're bigger than petty terrorist factions or the dogma
of hatred.

God bless.
