Correct, which is why I said "mostly" - but I
apologize if that was unclear. Snopes.com is an
excellent resource for the material. For anyone really
interested, the excellent book "When Santa Was a
Shaman" goes into great detail about the mythological
roots of the winter gifting celebration and the
characters associated with it.
