One of my new
players wanted to expand on the existing ch’i powers, and made a couple
suggestions. Here is what I’ve
come up with for two. I’d
appreciate any suggestions or comments on balance, etc. Thanks, Joe ********* Clouded Leopard Stalks TN: 5 Strain: 2 Speed: 1 Duration: 1/round Your hero effectively fades from view,
becoming one with the shadows and his surroundings through a complex series of
motions. The hero is not truly
invisible, but folks have a habit of avoiding looking at him while he is using
this power. For the duration,
simply seeing the martial artist requires an Onerous (7) Cognition roll. Increase the TN by +2 for every raise on
the ch'i roll. If the hero does
anything obvious (like breaking a vase, or kicking an unsuspecting guard upside
the head), those nearby may immediately attempt
another Cognition roll at the same difficulty. If the martial artist actually damages
an opponent, that person gets a +2 to his roll for every wound he takes on that
attack. Kill a cowpoke this way,
and you're likely to be the last thing he sees. Anyone who has spotted the martial artist
continues to see him until the hero drops this power and reinitiates it, at
which point they get the standard Cognition roll as described above. If a cowpoke has spotted the hero, and
tries to point him out to his buddy, his buddy gets to attempt the Cognition
roll on his next action, even if the martial artist has done nothing obvious. A cowpoke can attempt to attack the hidden
hero if he has some idea where he is.
This is made as if fighting in total darkness, and so the cowpoke
suffers a -8 penalty to his attack rolls Iron Monkey TN: 7 Strain: 4 Speed: 1 Duration: 2/round Gathering his ch’i to turn aside
attacks that would otherwise perforate him, the martial artist can ignore
attacks that most cowpokes would just bleed from. The martial artist gains one level of
armor for every success and raise on the ch'i roll. (max
5 with a roll of 27) |
