I agree that this works better, we are using hero system engine in a deadlands universe for our game.  Body is your hit points before you are dead, which is usually less than 20, and Stun is hit points before you are unconscious, usually between 30 & 50.  Weapons are classed as normal or killing and do both stun and body.  Killing weapons do a lot more body than normal weapons per the amount of stun done.  Normal weapons would be clubs, fists, blackjacks, chairs, etc.  Killing weapons are guns, knives, swords, etc.  As with the original deadlands, guns can make you real dead, real quick. No more than 3 pistol shots, and often only 2 are needed to drop folks.

Another nice thing about hero system is that it to is skill driven and a quick mod for the chips has those in it to.

Again though its finding a system a dm, and a group is happy with, and using it.
