RE: [DL] DL: Los Diablos (SHANE, Marshals only)

Spoilers!!!!!!!!

Okay, somebody has to play the... ahem, Devil's advocate here. ;-)

I think it is possible that "Shane's" ruling is absolutely correct. We seem
to be presuming that the stats under a critter's description automatically
supercede any other game mechanics. It's possible that instead of Los
Diablos being the only way a character can't come back harrowed that the
reverse is true. Coming back harrowed is the only way for a character to
escape becoming a Los Diablos.

Think of it like this; both are effectively tools of the Reckoners. Which
do they need more? A bull who is restricted to going after Grit 5 heroes or
a harrowed who can do that *and* cause fear everywhere he goes.

You see, I don't think of the harrowed draw as the player saving his
character, so much as the Reckoners getting their talons on his body and
soul. After becoming harrowed is when the real horror begins.

Anyway, I just wanted to throw an argument out there for "harrowed trumps
Los Diablos." As always, the Marshal's decision is final, and I think it
shows rather poor form on your player's part to believe that Shane could
override your ruling. I have a feeling if Shane was truly asked this
question, it was more of a hypothetical one than "The Marshall ruled this,
and the player wants you to tell him he's wrong." I think Shane would've
laughed at that. I know I would have.

"You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Ghost Rock, son. Nothing else in the
world smells like that. I love the smell of ghost rock in the morning. You
know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over
I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' Yank body. The
smell, you know that sulphurous smell, the whole hill. Smelled like...
victory. Someday this war's gonna end..."
