[DL] soul blast and such

just a quick question I have ecountered with the wording of things like soul 
blast (basically spells which say they can damage creatrures normally immune 
to physical damage)

just how far does this go?

obviously it is meant to hurt incorporeal creatures
but what about...

zombies (do you hurt them as normal humansso 5 wounds to the guts gets them?)
special horrors (it's not their one weakness, but it says it hurts them)
heck, the reckoners themselves (seem like solid candidates for "immune to all 
damage" descriptions)

is it just designed for incorporaeal things or was it also supposed to be a 
secondary way to take out the more dangerous abominations (since it 
supposedly damages their spirit)

which way was it intended to be?
