Okay, this may be too little too late, but why make it a Texas Ranger?

Why not send the Prospector after him?  He doesn't play by the rules, and,
most importantly, he has his elixir that will help the Harrowed regain
Dominion.  The nice thing about the Prospector is you don't get tied just to
Southern interests; he fights the Reckoners wherever they are.

Just a thought.
