[DL] Hucksters (kinda long, but there's and Edge)




I've been wondering about hexes latly. we've got three flavors now,
Original Huckster, Metal Mage and Shootist/Hexlsinger. All three
originated from Edmund Hoyle in his Book of Games, then later fellows
that learned his code developed their own spells, codes, and systems of
challenging manitou. Percy Sigreave has developed many hexes that have
the more techinogical manitou and spell caster in mind. He even has a
different coding system. Doc Holliday developed a whole different way of
challenging manitou that focuses on gunplay rather than card play.

So a huckster that has learned from Doc know neither of the codes, a
huckster who learned from the Book of Games, is ignorant of Sitgreaves
code in S&R as well as calling out demons at high noon, and huckster
using Sitgreaves spells don't know about the way of the gun or the
formula in Hoyle's code. And what if a techinlogical fellow figures out
Sitgreaves code, but has never fancied Mad Science, can he still use
those hexes? I presume so.

So, I suggest... ( I don't beleive it's totally like this already, if it
is I apologise)
Arcane Background: Huckster- casts traditional hexes from Hoyles Book of
Games and any spell taught directly by other Hucksters.
Arcane Background: Metal Mage- casts the hexes developed by percy
Sitgreaves, either by diserning them from the S&R catolog or from other
Metal Mages. You can be a Mad Scientist  also, but it is not requires.
not being one makes few hexes pointless.
Arcane Background: Shootist- knows hexes developed by Doc Holliday,
personally trained by him or by one of his diciples. They don't know any
of the codes, adn their system of casting must be related toa gun somehow
in order to work. no cards.

Now what about the spell slinger that wants to cast spells from another
AB? All the Huckster AB's are so close, rather than have to by the
adiitional AB, bya a new edge called... I don't know... Cross Casting.
This is mostly to aid marshals to allow player to cast from multiple hex
schools, but not get that extra boost for free.


Cross Casting 2: a Huckster of any variety knows how to learn and cast
spells known by another group of hucksters. this can be bought twice in
order to to know all the knowledge. you are still limited to the same
amount of starting hexes as before. You must have at least one level of
Hexslingin' and Academia: Occult for each variety of huckster spells you
know.
