For 5 points it should either REALLY kick ass and have a pretty serious
drawback, or be fairly butch with a minor drawback. I have a Doomsayer
with a L5 relic sword and came up with the Sword o' Doom (on the PEG site
in the HoE library); his is AP4 and he can spend chips for extra
damage. On the down side, every Cult o' Doom member in the Wasted West
would give their eyeteeth to kill him dead and take the sword back to Silas
for a giant reward.
I like the idea of it being powerful and notorious (makes
sense...). Maybe the sword once belonged to a major bad guy or abomination
and they (or their followers or heirs, if they were killed off) want it
back. You could make it do more damage or whatever, but that's fairly
simple- maybe it augments the users ability to use Templar powers, or gives
them access to one they don't have while they're holding it. There's
another relic sword floating around our game (from the same player- the
character got gakked, but the sword's still around...) that increases the
users leadership and guts in combat...you can go anywhere. L5 is a major,
major artifact, though, so aim high.
Don't be reluctant to give it a lot of power, as long as there is a down
side to keep it balanced...
