Yeah, that's right, spoilers.





So, anyways...

I just finished "The Last Crusaders" the other day.  Darn good book!  Once
again, PEG doesn't let me down like some other companies I could name.

However, it seemed rather obvious what (or rather, whom) the Boise Horror is.

It's Simon.

During the battle of Hell's Canyon, Baphomet used Simon's moment of
weakness to instill itself into his soul.  Being a crafty demon, he waited
and bided.  However, he has done a few different things, other then rip
people to shreds.

He encourages the templars to have stricter and stricter views of who is
worth saving and who isn't.  This keeps them looking like snooty, snobby
overlords.  Baphomet encourages all the things that seem wrong with the
templars, hoping to cause enough of a rift that organizations like the
anti-templars will destroy them.

In addition, the lowering of the Fear Level in Boise is an unacceptable
situation.  Therefore, once in a while, Baphomet takes over Simon, who
walks out into the night.  He knocks on the door of a squire or some other
person, telling them that he has "good news".  Once indoors he takes the
form of Baphomet and slaughters them.

That's why no one has seen the Horror.  They actually have seen it - but
they've seen Simon, and not realized whodunnit.
