One thing I thought about the harder backlash - the +4 
shifts the results towards partial or complete possession.  
That could be interpreted as manitou trying to force their 
way into the real world, using the huckster as a bridge - 
sometimes they miss and hit bystanders or inanimate objects 
instead...
