I must confess I have no answer to this, except that the Greater reward 
(for killing a Templar) may be a "forced" reward (the reckoners can use as 
the Templar is a bit tainted) the Templar does not choose whether to get or 
not, but is a sort of boost, and one coming from the Hunting Grounds, not 
the Reckoners directly. Not a good explanation I will admit.
