[HoE] Population

Well Page 58 of the wasted west gives us a hint at the worlds
population. Jo says that the population of the earth was around 7
billion when the bombs fell (we are at over 6 billion now) and 6 of that
7 billion died when the bombs fell. Now there is one problem with
leaving the population at 1 billion for the Wasted West...it's way to
many! The last time the earths population was 1 billion was in the
1870's-1880's which is to say during the time frame of Deadlands. With
this many people not only would you have lots of settlements in the west
with some of them being quite large, you would have big cities like
Chicago & St. Louis. Now this does not really fit my view of the wasted
west either so I might suggest a world population of 100 million at most
in order to keep the settlements small. Just assume the bombs did more
than Jo thought, or more likely, that the aftermath of the bombs and the
4 horseman did the rest.
I think folks tend to lose sight of just how crowded the word is
especially when you live in a country with a relatively low population
density like the U.S.
Check out the world populations at various points in history. You'll be
amazed how fast our population is growing...or scared.
