My advice would be to just scare him at first
maybe have him find something *really* cool, like a cache of items or
something, and while he's trying to gather up all the crap have some zombies
jump him. If he's that big of a pain maul a leg or something, that will make hi
m stick a bit closer to the posse. If that doesn't work, then just have him
stumble upon something he really shouldn't (like maybe a wormling nest, or
worse, you get the idea)
