Re: [HoE] killing a PC on purpose.

I may be giving my two cents a little late, but new to the list and also
just playing catch up with e-mail. I tend to let the players who travel
off on their own find a bit more trouble then they can handle, but not
always. Sometimes it is a blessing for the GM when the rest of the players
haven't got a clue what do next. You can always have that lone player find
the big clue, but also discover there is no way he can handle it himself.
However, that may encourage him to keep doing what he is doing. The
biggest deterrent I use is game time. That's fine, if you want to run off
by yourself, so be it, but realize that I have 4 other players here who
want to play. Since 4 beats 1, they get the most attention from me as the
GM, with me checking in on him about 1 minute for every 5 minutes of game
play they get. Tend to discover if players want to play and not just sit
there, they stick together. Of course, there is the outright maiming of a
limb, destroying of the bike, and plain killing him off. But it is most
likely the player and not the character that is the problem (not always
true), so you'll probably just get a repeat of the same if you kill off
that character. Of course, laying down ground rules with your players and
talking with them, does help. My players know that if they are loners they
are going to get less play time per game. Well, that's my two cents and
Hello all.
