[HoE] Use of spoilers
Okay folks.
Here's a few guidelines on using spoiler space.
First - the reason we request that folks use spoiler tags and/or white
space is because Pinnacle takes several measures in order to separate what
the player's know and what the real story is. It's a polite practice to
give those folks that play in DL/HOE games the option to bypass any
information which might ruin their games.
The things that should go behind spoiler tags are:
Anything regarding details about published adventures.
Things in the Marshal's Handbook that are to be kept secret from the
players until revealed during the game.
Putting spoilers in the Subject line allows for people to skip the message
altogether. Putting spoiler space in the body of the message allows folks
who only get the digest message the chance to skip past the next paragraph.
You don't need a full page of white space, but about 5 or so blank lines
should do it.
For example:
Spoilers (btw- real spoilers follow)
Talking about harrowed does not require a spoiler because it's something
that's openly discussed in the Player's Guide. But talking about what pull
you need on the Mysterious Pasts table to become harrowed should be a mild
spoiler, because some marshal's like to spring that on the PC by surprise.
On that note - all of the Mysterious Pasts should be under Mild spoilers.
Talking about the fact that in Dark Canyon it is the PC's that are
committing the horrible acts is DEFINATELY a spoiler. That one line
completely gives away the climatic moment of the adventure.
