Re: [HoE] Massive Damage, Please Help

According to darklord@dark-sky.net:
|
| Ok, me and a few buds just got started with HoE, and we ran into a
| problem that hadn't really come up in all of our playing of
| Deadlands.... Working out massive damage with lots of armor.

Not sure why this needs a spoiler, but...

| For Example this happened in our last session:
|
| S
| P
| O
| I
| L
| E
| R
|
| S
| P
| A
| C
| E
|
| Ok, Automation 28 yards down the street just took it's 5th wound to the
| guts, and Kaboom, it blows up. Now there is player A in his truck
| (truck has armor 1) wearing kevlar and an armored duster (armor 2 and
| -4), Player B behind the truck wearing kevlar (armor 2) and NPC C also
| behind the truck.
|
| Now, how is the damage worked out?! How does the truck fit into this?
| Is damage rolled for the guy in the truck or do you just roll damage for
| the truck and he takes whatever hits the passenger area? Does the Truck
| provide cover to those behind it? If so, how much and how does that
| affect it's durability? And how does Kevlar and armored dusters work
| into this? I'm guessing that they don't reduce die types since they
| don't cover the entire body.
|
| Can Anyone explain how this would all work out?
| Thanks in Advance
| Dirk "Ouch" R.

First piece of advice. Rules, though inspired by reality or
genre, are, in the end, arbitrary. Therefore, Any judgement you make as
the marshal so long as it is done in a reasonable fashion, is just as good
as a published rule. IOW, Fake it.
Second piece of advice. Apply the damage to the truck. If it
blows up itself, they're all dead. Otherwise, proceed thusly: Guy in
truck takes full wounds -3 (2 for armor, one for truck). Guy behind truck
takes full wounds -3 (2 for armor, one for truck). NPC takes full wounds
-1.
