Well, maybe someone in the town, or whatever, insults him in some way ... 
maybe his swordsmanship, or his marksmanship, or his smarts, something that 
is testable 
and falls within Templar categories.  So, to stand up for his honor he is 
tested in some way.  In being honorable ... maybe he goes a little too far in 
self exploiting himself ... and fails, which is where humility comes in.  Not 
the best in the world, but maybe you can gather something out of this, and 
form your own plans.
