Road Warriors says that the VW bug gang has all models of bug, the old,
the 1990s versions and presumably, future remakes.
The cars could concievably be around still, assuming replacement parts
are still available.  Already, you see more vintage bugs on the road than
any other car from that peiod.  Many people who have them break their
backs to keep them functioning.  That, and there are likely a number of
bugs that were collector's items before the war, and would be functioning
perfectly fine now.
That, and bugs are among the easiest cars to work with around.  You can
do just about anything with a fairly good assortment of tools, and you
rarely would need a full auto shop for anything.
