I've been considering an addition to the shotgun rules.  Shotguns with 
pellets give a +2 to AND they ignore range penalties - that's to simulate 
the bonus to hit that the spread gives.  And to compensate I was 
tentatively thinking of dropping the base damage of shotguns by a die.  I 
never liked how much more effective a shotgun was over a pistol.
