Well, you have to look back to the Blessed for an answer here.  Their
Miracles all work on their Faith, and mechanically, they're channeling
Hunting Grounds energy through themselves just like the Doomsayers are.
However, the Blessed are protected by their deity from the effects of
channeling the energy, hence the reason they don't really have any backlash.
Doomsayers, on the other hand, DO have backlash.  They're channeling Hunting
Grounds energy through themselves, but there's no actual force protecting
them.  They may THINK there's something there, but there really isn't.  They
just learn a particular way of tapping the energy and they use it.
