Back here in the colonies we used to call that game
Bullrush.

Played by a crowd of the younger generation, as we
healed a bit better then compared to how we'd heal
now, the idea was to get across an open area as fast
as possible. In the middle of the area was a person
whose goal was to tackle you before you made it to the
otherside. The definition of tackling  was left to the
individual at hand and sometimes failed to result in
anything bloody. If caught, you got to join the
"tacklers" rather than the "tacklees." 

As you'd imagine, by the game's end there is a very
large crowd in the middle baying for blood and just
the few very quick and very agile players remaining to
make the run. 

Still, I like the idea of adding weapons. Armour is
rather unsporting all the same as then you'd let those
watching believe they you're afraid of getting hurt.
