Just my $.02. Is this heavy handed, yes. However, it may be the best way
to handle the situation. Sometimes you need to be heavy handed. It sounds
like you tried more subtle ways of communicating the problem to him, and it
didn't work. You know his personality and it sounds like you feel he would
take this well. If the other option is cut him loose, I would definitely
try this method first. Good luck.
