True, that was a little bit of pulling something out of my arse.

Well you guys both talked about bruises and cracked ribs, etc. What if:
If the armor would normally take the weapon below d4, then the damage is
treated as wind and reduced normally from there.

So AV 2 vs. 3d6 pistol: 3d6->3d4->2d4(wind)
AV 2 vs. 2d4 pistol: 2d4->1d4(wind)->0
AV 2 vs. 4d8 rifle: 4d8-> 4d6->4d4(real damage)
AV 3 vs. 4d8 rifle: 4d8->4d6->4d4->3d4(wind)
etc.

This seems to fit fairly well, and even against AV 3 a good rifle has a
decent shot of knocking the "wind" out of you and maybe even causing a
wound (if you roll well enough).
