Just as a further note, it's a lot easier for the Marshal to get a feel for
an NPC's speech patterns from a canned speech than a third-person
narrative. Sure, you can describe such mannerisms, but it's never as
effective as a demonstration.
Oldest rule of storytelling: show, don't tell.
This is just as true for adventures as novels.
