[HOE] Ike and the Nuke

Hi everyone--I'm copying a recent private email for your edification on why
Ike didn't use the nuke he might've recovered in the "Air Force One"
adventure.

Hi Dan,

The shield blanks out *all* supernatural devices, whether they're linked to
the HG or not.

As for the nuke, we just didn't think Ike would use it too close to Junkyard,
and the Combine forces were spread out enough on the march to hit them from
the air (they only gathered once they got near JY, though that's not
specifically mentioned in the book). He's hesitant to use it on Denver too
since he knows Denver has a shield that protected it once already--and would
probably do so again.

So if he has it--he's sitting on it for now. Using a nuke in HOE is a big
taboo for the good guys.

As for the Ghost in the Weird West, he's back in action and doing just fine.
He didn't make it to HOE that we know of at this point.

Shane

Subject: Unity: Awsome book & Thank you.

Hi,

First of all, I just read about the CD-Rom going to the original Litho buyers
and wanted to say you guys (and girls) are AWSOME. Most other RPG companies
would forget about their loyal customers, but not you guys! Thanks.

The Unity is a great book and I can't wait to run it with my friends. I have
a pseudo-question about a situation in your book, however.

My question concerns the battle of Junkyard when Ike turns on the gizmo that
temporarily severs the link to the hunting grounds. Anyone with arcane
abilities are suddenly unable to use them, but JUNKER DEVICES should still
work, right?

Tech Spirits, unlike Manitous and Nature Spirits, do not exist simultaneously
in both the 'real world' and the hunting grounds. When they inhabit a piece
of equipment, they already sever their link with the Net. Granted, a Junker
would be unable to craft a device during that half hour, but as long as a
device doesn't rely on a ghost-rock based power source (which Ike should have
planned for when readying the defences), it should still work perfectly.

Junkyard, being the haven for Junkers as it is, would rely heavily on Junker
Tech. The Combine, on the other hand, is overly dependant on manitou-powered
cyborgs and ghost-rock powered weaponry. I'm going to make the Battle at
Junkyard a slaughter and allow my party to destroy as much as they want.
This will give the players a HUGE head right before I hand their asses to
them later in the story. ;) (My manitou approves...)

By the way, I thought that in The Unity you you were going to use the nuke
that was recovered from Air Force One to wipe out the Combine when they
retreated to Denver. Was that Ike's plan before Raven and the Reckoners
showed up or do you have something even bigger in store for using that item?
If not, I would like to add that as a further plot complication to my story.

I know you guys are great with your "you're the marshal, make the game yours"
attitude about your products. I was just wondering if that situation is what
you had in mind.

One final thing and then I'll go away. What was the results of the vote on
the fate of The Ghost? I'd like to think that he's one of those guys who
made it HOE (or even LC) since Teller, Lynch and now Ballard are goners. Are
we ever gonna see him again?

Thanks,
Don Davenport
